What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a four year Bachelor of Applied Science degree in which subjects such as anatomy, neurobiology and physiology are studied in order to develop skills and attitudes necessary for health education and prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with physical disorders and disabilities.
Physiotherapy treatment can help to accelerate the healing process and relieve symptoms of pain and stiffness. Alongside the physical treatment offered by physiotherapists, their advice can be extremely valuable in preventing problems from reoccurring, or even from happening in the first place.
All physiotherapists in Australia are required to be registered by law. Registration as a physiotherapist is only possible after completion of a university degree in physiotherapy or health sciences with a physiotherapy course.
They are the experts in the examination and treatment of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and cardiothoracic problems that affect peoples’ abilities to move the way they want and function as well as they want in their daily lives.
